Franchising Programs

For every country or territory we intend to franchise, we utilize two agreements: a Development Agreement and an International Multi-Unit Franchise Agreement (IMUFA). The term length for this agreement will vary, depending upon the number of locations to be opened, as well as other factors.

Traditional Multi-Unit Franchise

This type of franchise program is commonly utilized when all locations are intended to be opened and operated by one franchisee.

  • Offers exclusive territory rights for an agreed-upon number of years for development
  • Specifies the number of locations to be opened during the term of the agreement
  • A Franchise Agreement is signed for every new location opened
  • Automatically utilized when there is an expectation of opening less than 30 locations during the term of the agreement
Master Franchise

This franchise program grants a traditional multiunit franchise partner the right to subfranchise the brand to other individuals. It is utilized in situations where more than 30 locations are expected to be opened during the agreement term.

  • Offers exclusive territory rights for an agreed-upon number of years for development
  • Sets a minimum number of locations that the master franchise partner must own and operate prior to being able to exercise the subfranchising rights
  • Shares in fee revenues with FOCUS Brands International for subfranchised locations
  • A franchise agreement is signed for every new location opened
  • Subfranchise owners will sign a franchise agreement with the master franchise partner
  • Master franchise partner provides training and field operations support to subfranchisees
